Okay, so I’m not the kind of person who gets sent free hardware from manufacturers.  However, as followers of PC Gamer’s Twelve Days of Christmas competition will know, I did win a lovely cooler, and technically it was shipped and paid for by Corsair.  Close as I’m ever going to get.

Sorry I’m a little late posting this week, I was working on a project that didn’t quite pan out.

As most PC Gamer readers will know it’s Top 100 time again, although it has been pushed back to a  later time than usual, with the writers list appearing in the latest January 2010 (PCG209) issue.  Following on from that will be the PC Gamer Readers Top 100, with the site already up and taking votes.

When I’ve posted about Flash games in the past, I’ve usually tried to convey their long-term appeal, but not this one.

I’ve no doubt you’ll probably play it a couple of times then forget about it, but if you can get a good game going it can be hilarious.  I’ve just finished playing a match and found myself chuckling for several minutes after I had stopped playing. (more…)

I recently bought Mass Effect, from Steam’s last Weekend Deal.  I’ve been wanting to buy this for a while now, and I did think about it when EA finally released their activation limit-free version to UK residents.  But I also wanted Mirror’s Edge at the same time, the discount was only 10% and I had been wanting to play Mirror’s Edge more, so I decided to get that one and wait for the Christmas holiday sales to get Mass Effect.  Fortunately I haven’t had to wait that long for this better deal to arrive.

masseffect01So far I’ve been having a lot of fun, it’s been a while since I’ve played a good RPG.  It feels familiar, there is much in common with the KOTOR games, but there are quite a few subtleties that make the experience different.  It’s one of these I want to write about today, with a more general gaming focus.
