Real Life: Rael liife? What’s that?
What is the blog about?
Mainly it’ll be about gaming, but I also want to do several pieces on politics, philosophy and bits and pieces of this thing we call the Internet.
A bit of History.
My name come from the first forum I ever joined. Morrowind was and still is one of my favourite games, I wanted to discuss it and the upcoming TESIV so I joined the Official Elder Scrolls forum. I’m not very good at coming up with names (just see my blog title) so I was struggling with my username. I decided to use the best character I had created in Morrowind, Marlot the Conjuror. I learnt a great deal from that forum, and developed a love of forums in general. When I joined another forum I thought my username would be a little (runs off to Google) ostentatious, so I shortened it too M_the_C and have used that ever since. It’s a great name, very unique. I have yet to run across a place that wouldn’t let me use it. (although some don’t like the underscores 😕 expect a blog about that sometime.)
It’s pronounced em the see. You do not say the underscores. (that has tripped up several mic. users in multiplayer game ) If time is short I’m happy with M.
I stopped posting on The Elder Scrolls forums a while back now, and only use two regularly. WiiTalk and PC Gamer UK. The first is a high quality, close-knit forum, with some great characters. I don’t play on my Wii as often now, but I still visit there everyday for the great community. PC Gamer UK on the other hand has suffered some problems over the past year. Regular spam attacks due to the forums poor software and unwillingness to give moderators any power has resulted in many good people leaving. It’s slowly recovering again, with a core of us not giving up and trying to restart the community. It’s the place to go for a complex discussion on the finer points of gaming.
